Another show of note for Don and Mike Show historians,
because this is the show when Don announces the departure of
long-time producer Charles ("Charlie" "Kong" "Billy the Man
Slave" "Billy Reed") Broyhill and his wife, Lisa Herndon
Broyhill. It's interesting to hear how genuinely Don and
Mike express their warm feelings for Charlie in light of
events that will unfold in a matter on months that will
result in Charlie being referred to on air by Don as "The
Plaintiff." But it's nice to know that, before it went tits
up, these guys genuinely liked each other and that Don
sincerely regretted Charlie's departure. That announcement,
of course, launches into a retrospective of former D&M Show
producers, and the type of responsibilities the new producer
will need to cover, which in turn opens the caller
floodgates for listeners who want to apply for the coveted
job. Lucky for us, the World's Oldest Call Screener, Joe
Ardinger, protects our Radio Gods from harassment.
Otherwise, it's a pretty typical show, capped by an
outstanding appearance in Low Budget Jeopardy by Tony
Soprano/James Gandolfini (Mike). I love that bit!
